The Sepsis Foundation provides consultancy to Novartis to enhance understanding of Patients’ experiences with Sepsis-Associated Acute Kidney Injury
For a series of interviews with patients who experienced Sepsis-Associated Acute Kidney Injury (SA-AKI), the Sepsis Foundation provides scientific consultancy on the design of the research and the interpretation of the results. Moreover, the Sepsis Foundation is supporting patient recruitment for this initiative, that aims to enhance the understanding of SA-AKI symptoms and their impacts on patient lives.
Why Is This Important?
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that can lead to severe complications. One of the most common and serious consequences is acute kidney injury (SA-AKI), which can significantly hinder recovery and have lasting effects on patients‘ quality of life. Despite advancements in intensive care medicine, there remains a critical need for scientifically backed insights to improve condition management. Through these patient interviews valuable data on symptoms and impacts of SA-AKI will be collected. These insights can help refine existing knowledge on endpoints and outcomes most important to patients with SA-AKI to address these in future clinical research.
How Do Patients Benefit?
These data from patients with lived experience of SA-AKI aim to bring lasting improvements to the medical care of individuals affected by SA-AKI. A key focus is on actively involving patients to better integrate their experiences and needs into research. Strict ethical standards and data protection regulations will be upheld to ensure the safety and privacy of all participants.
Transparency and Scientific Independence
The Sepsis Foundation is committed to ensuring that all collected data is analyzed in a scientifically rigorous and transparent manner. The Sepsis Foundation adheres to the highest scientific and ethical standards, ensuring that the findings serve independent medical research and, most importantly, the needs of patients.
